Heat Pumps

This calculator is to be used as a guide only. Before purchasing a Zodiac Z300, ZS500 or PowerForce heat pump it must be sized correctly by Zodiac (your builder will organise this). However Z200 M3/M4/M5 models do not require an official calculation to be performed. These models are season extenders only. Zodiac only recommends these for use between the months of Sept-April. For more information contact Zodiac direct or speak to your local pool care professional.

Cover

Your energy bill will be significantly decreased with a pool cover. Zodiac recommends using a good quality thermal blanket of at least 400 microns.

Above Ground Pool

Above ground refers to any pool wall or large section of the pool that is located above the ground line as this can be affected by heat loss.

Water Temperature

Best temperatures for your pool are

'Sport Mode' for doing laps etc is 24-26⁰C.
'Leisure Mode' for relaxing in the pool set temperature 28-30⁰C
Up to a maximum of to 32⁰C.

To extend your season most users find that heating from Sept till April provide the best solution, but this can vary depending on your climate.

Intelli-Heat

Intelli-Heat works by sensing the water temperature intermittently through the day to determine if the heat pump should be on, keeping the water temperature consistent at all times. Intelli-Heat is available to use with a separate pump or with your normal integrated filter pump (recommended). Not compatible with Zodiac Power 7 and 9 models.
