Pool Location and Planning

The best pool designs integrate and highlight your backyard’s features.

Take a look around and note any distinct features you’d like to bring to light, such as a garden or view.

Waterfalls and water features have great aesthetic appeal and bring, depending on their scale, a calming effect or dramatic excitement to the pool.

Pools can be located wherever Council permission can be obtained.  But, one important factor to think about is orientation. Consider the following:

  • Sun – does the sun shine on the pool and areas intended for sunbathing?
  • Shade – are there shady spots to escape the sun when it gets too hot? Does it cover the pool so much that it stops it naturally warming up?
  • Wind – will a windbreak be necessary?
  • Vegetation – are there trees and shrubs close to the pool area that will shed leaves and insects?
  • Safety – can the pool be easily supervised from the house?

We recommend you talk to your pool builder, as they’ll be able to help you determine what options are right for you.
